It’s beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving… -and- Goodbye to a friend.

Everywhere I go…  it’s beginning to look a lot like Thanksgiving.
I love the Holidays.  I’m so blessed to be here another year to enjoy life, family, friends, my little doggies and my fellow bloggers.  Yes… I consider all of you part of my life too.  As much time as I send on this blog posting, reading, commenting and interacting with all of you… you are all considered my long distance friends.

I was thinking how happy I would have been this past Monday when my daughter started her new management position.  I was so excited to see the gleam in her eyes and inflection in her voice as she described her role at her new company.  There is no greater joy for a parent then to see the success of one’s child.  Although my joy was at an all-time high for my daughter’s professional growth, I had another reason for wanting Monday to come.
In my teen years I had lots of friends but only one or two which I considered true/best friends.  One of those true/best friends was a girl named Monica.  Monica and I were inseparable and alike in so many ways… here are just a few:
1) We were both the same age.
2) We both got married the same year.
3) We both purchased our 1st homes the same year.
4) We liked the same style cloths.
5) We liked the same type of music.
6) We liked the same type of guys in high school.
7) and… Monica stayed at my house just as much as I stayed at her’s.
So when my daughter told me where she had accepted a new position, all of a sudden it just hit me “that is where my high school friend Monica worked”.
My daughter asked are you sure and I replied “I think so.”   So all weekend I could not wait for my daughter to start her new job so I could reconnect with one of my high school best friend’s… Monica.
Monday and Tuesday passed and she forgot to ask if Monica still worked at the company or actually if she ever was employed their at all.
Wednesday/today, I received texts from my daughter that read as follows:
Daughter –  ”Is ur friend name Monica xxxxx”.
Me  -  ”Yes, that was her maiden name when I knew her”.
A few hours passed and then I got the following text >
Daughter – “Her husband still works here. She worked here for 28 years…  until she died 2 years ago from a long fight with Breast Cancer.    MY HEART STOPPED!
In loving memory of one of the best friend’s anyone could have ever had or wanted… Your loving friend Bridgette.
