11.11.11 Significance of… and what does it really mean?

11.11.11 was my absolute drop dead date set back in May on my birthday to have lose exactly 100 lbs.  It’s now 11.11.11 and I’m nowhere near my goal.  Not even close!

Besides my failure to obtain my weight loss goal of 100 lbs by 11.11.11, I’m hearing and reading this date has some pretty significant meanings to a lot of people for reasons other than weight.

11.11.11 only occurs on one day every 100 years.   Some believe today has a spiritual significance due to the so-called mystical powers of the number 11. Others believe today is the prefect day to get married or have a baby… and even more believe it’s perhaps the end of the world, according to the Mayan Prophecy.

On 11.11.11, many couples are clamoring to give birth. Some women are so determined to have their babies on 11.11.11 that they are having labor induced ahead of schedule to lay claim to their baby was born on 11.11.11.  For those who can’t wait to pop, websites have “popped” up giving instructions on how to jump-start labor by trying some old wive’s tales to ensure birth on 11.11.11, i.e., have sex, go herbal, stimulate your nips, walk around and even to try acupuncture.

Let’s address some of those end-of-world scenarios, which begin with 11.11.11, whereas, a new era of spirituality will be ushered in.   The buzz on the net and on Twitter and elsewhere is that 11/11/11 is the unofficial start of the 2012 metaphysical year.

According to the Mayan Calendar, which by the way ends on 12-21-2012, thereby, indicating 2012 as an apocalyptic year.  Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time.

Okay… now they have my attention!  The mythology of all these theories are just that theories/widespread speculation. The end of mankind is unknown and unpredictable so let’s stop trying to predict the future because… would you really want to know?  I wouldn’t!

I don’t know the true significance of 11.11.11, however, since it’s obviously significant to so many, I couldn’t let the day pass without taking my baby to get groomed for the 1st time since that awful grooming incident back in September.  So here he is in all his glory.  He is such a camara hog… enjoy!

Final note:  the iPad 2 is great for everything… but it has an awful camera.  I’ve got to invest in a really good one! That’s all.  Have a great weekend all.
